Twins place SS Kaelen Culpepper (hamstring) on IL

The Minnesota Twins placed rookie shortstop Kaelen Culpepper on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday with a left hamstring strain.

Culpepper, 23, was removed from Tuesday night's 8-1 loss to the New York Yankees in the top of the seventh inning.

The Twins' 2024 first-round draft pick has batted .275 with three homers and 11 RBIs in 31 games since making his major league debut on Aug. 7.

Culpepper also batted .271 with 14 homers, 46 RBIs and 17 stolen bases in 74 games at Triple-A St. Paul this season.

The Twins recalled infielder Ben Ross from St. Paul in a corresponding move.

Ross, 25, made his MLB debut on Sept. 1 and was 0-for-4 with one run scored and three strikeouts in three games with Minnesota in his first stint with the Twins.
