The Toronto Blue Jays aren't the class of the AL East, but they're not far off. They're just a half-game behind the Tampa Bay Rays for second place and two behind the New York Yankees for first ahead of Thursday's matchup with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Shortstop Bo Bichette and star slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. combined to go 5-for-7 with a homer, five RBI, and three walks in Toronto's 8-1 win over Arizona on Wednesday. The duo also went a combined 5-for-9 with two homers and four RBI in the Blue Jays' 5-4 win over the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.
Toronto will be tough to stop if those two stay hot moving forward. Guererro sang Bichette's praises after Wednesday's contest, via MLB.com's Keegan Matheson.
“That’s who he is, and he’s not hot yet,” he said.
Bichette is slashing .275/.317/.437 with 10 homers and 44 RBI over 73 games.

The 27-year-old is rebounding after a 2024 season that saw him struggle with injuries and ineffectiveness. He slashed .225/.277/.322 with four homers and 31 RBI across 81 contests.
Meanwhile, Guerrero is slashing .286/.390/.442 with nine homers and 37 RBI over 72 games. The 26-year-old signed a 14-year, $500 million contract extension with the Blue Jays on April 7. He was originally scheduled to hit free agency this offseason.
Right-handed pitcher Kevin Gausman (5-5, 4.08 ERA) will start for Toronto against Arizona right-hander Ryne Nelson (3-2, 4.14 ERA) on Thursday. Going forward, the Blue Jays will host the Chicago White Sox before hitting the road to play the Cleveland Guardians and Boston Red Sox.
