The New York Yankees continue their road trip through Kansas City after edging out the Royals in a tight 4-3 win on Monday night. Aaron Judge and company now look to build momentum behind rookie sensation Cam Schlittler, who’s turned into one of the hottest arms in baseball this month.
Meanwhile, the Royals are still searching for consistency on both sides of the ball. Kansas City has struggled to generate offense throughout the season, and now faces a difficult matchup against one of MLB’s top pitching staffs.
The first pitch for the Yankees vs. Royals matchup is scheduled for 7:40 p.m. ET.
The Yankees will hand the ball to Cam Schlittler for Tuesday night’s contest. The 25-year-old right-hander has been dominant this season with a stellar 6-2 record and 1.50 ERA across 66.2 innings pitched.
Kansas City will counter with Bailey Falter, who is still trying to settle into a rhythm after a rough start to the year. The left-hander owns a 9.82 ERA across four appearances and has struggled badly with command and hard contact. His most recent outing against Boston lasted only two innings.
The Yankees enter this matchup with a clear edge offensively and on the mound. New York leads MLB in home runs and continues to generate power throughout the lineup, while Kansas City’s offense has remained inconsistent for most of May.
If Schlittler continues his recent form, the Yankees could be in a strong position at Kauffman Stadium.
