White Sox Make 3 Roster Moves to Set Up Drew Thorpe's MLB Debut
Allan Henry-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago White Sox made three roster moves to set up Drew Thorpe's MLB debut. Before Tuesday's game against the Seattle Mariners, the Sox selected Thorpe's contract from Double-A Birmingham, optioned reliever Sammy Peralta to Triple-A Charlotte, and transferred Dominic Leone to the 60-day injured list.

Thorpe will start Tuesday's contest after notching a 1.35 ERA and 0.867 WHIP in 60 innings across 11 starts to begin the season with the Birmingham Barons. Acquired in the Dylan Cease trade, Thorpe is MLB Pipeline's No. 54 overall prospect and the No. 3 prospect in the White Sox' system. The right-hander features a highly regarded changeup, which he'll employ frequently against Mariners hitters on Tuesday.

Peralta's transaction log continues to grow with Tuesday's demotion to Charlotte. After a brief stint with Seattle's organization, the left-hander has pitched just one-third of an inning in his second go-around with the White Sox.

Leone has been on the 15-day injured list since May 21 due to right elbow inflammation. The right-hander posted a 7.08 ERA and 1.696 WHIP in 15.1 innings to begin the season with the White Sox.
