The Chicago White Sox have placed pitcher Noah Schultz on the 15-day injured list with right knee patellar tendinitis, retroactive to May 25.

In a corresponding move , the team recalled right-hander David Sandlin from Triple-A Charlotte. Sandlin is expected to make his MLB debut on Wednesday against the Minnesota Twins.

Schultz, the White Sox top pitching prospect, had been in the big-league rotation since making his MLB debut in mid-April. The injury is a recurrence of the same right patellar tendinitis issue that significantly limited him during the 2025 season.

This is a frustrating setback for the 22-year-old left-hander, who had shown strong stuff and promise in his early big-league appearances. The White Sox have been cautious with Schultz’s workload throughout his development, and this latest knee issue will once again test his durability.

Sandlin, acquired from the Boston Red Sox in February, has been dominant at Triple-A this season and will get an immediate opportunity in the rotation.
