The New York Yankees have nearly finalized their Opening Day roster for the 2026 season, but still need to sort out their starting rotation options. Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodón will start the campaign on the IL, while Luis Gil is struggling in spring training. Sean Paul Linan could be a surprising candidate to take up a spot on the Yankees’ pitching staff.
On Sunday, the New York Yankees traded infielder Jorbit Vivas to the Washington Nationals in exchange for right-handed pitcher Sean Paul Linan. The 21-year-old right-hander was the No. 27 prospect in the Nationals organization. He previously spent four years in the Los Angeles Dodgers farm system.
“The Yankees are trading infielder Jorbit Vivas to the Washington Nationals for right-handed pitcher Sean Paul Liñan, according to multiple reports,” Alex Smith of SNY reported. “Formerly an international free agent who was signed by the Dodgers, Liñan has worked as a starter and reliever.”
Jorbit Vivas, acquired from LAD alongside Victor González for Trey Sweeney, was out of minor league options and wasn't going to make the #Yankees' roster.
