Willy Adames rebuilding trade value for Giants

The San Francisco Giants reportedly want a do-over on their roster. One player may be getting easier to trade with each passing day.

USA Today's Bob Nightengale reported on May 10 that the Giants were looking to move on from several high-priced contracts. Specifically, the Giants were looking to move on from first baseman Rafael Devers, third baseman Matt Chapman, shortstop Willy Adames and outfielder Jung Hoo Lee. The problem was that none of those players were playing well enough to garner even tepid interest.

Adames had been particularly putrid to that point. He entered May 10 with a .197/.233/.329 batting line with three homers and 11 doubles over his 159 plate appearances, drawing six walks while striking out 48 times.

Willy Adames has found his form for the San Francisco Giants

Adames has been white hot since Nightengale's report. He has posted a .330/.387/.660 batting line in his 111 plate appearances since May 10, hitting seven doubles and eight homers. Adames has been one of the hottest hitters in the majors over the past few weeks and has begun to rebuild his trade value.

Moving on from Adames would still be a difficult task for the Giants. He is due to receive another $155.7 million over the remaining five years on his contract. The Giants would either need to send a significant amount of cash or well-regarded prospects to send Adames elsewhere. However, if he can continue his current run of success, such a trade may be easier to put together.
