The New York Yankees have been without Carlos Rodon for several weeks as he’s been dealing with left elbow inflammation. With the franchise focused on the final stretch of the regular season amid another playoff bid, manager Aaron Boone shared great news regarding Rodon’s recovery.

Reports indicate that the 33-year-old left-hander is set to make his first rehab assignment start, according to Jorge Castillo of ESPN. Rodon will make an appearance with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.

Carlos Rodon is scheduled to make his first rehab start Saturday in Triple-A, Aaron Boone said,” Castillo reported.

The 12-year veteran is likely to need several rehab assignment starts before being cleared to return to the Yankees’ rotation. Rodon is one of several key players the club hopes will return well before the start of the playoffs.

When healthy, the three-time All-Star has been consistent for New York. In his 46.1 innings pitched so far this year, Rodon owns a 3.30 ERA and 1.252 WHIP with 52 strikeouts. He’s also 4-2 through nine starts in 2026.

Aaron Boone has been utilizing a rotation consisting of Max Fried, Cam Schlittler, Will Warren, Ryan Weathers, and Gerrit Cole. Where Carlos Rodon fits in is not entirely clear, as the Yankees’ manager may have to get creative with his pitching group once the Miami native finally comes off the IL.

After what’s viewed as a dud of a trade deadline, the Yankees appear to be relying on health and call-ups to improve the roster for the postseason. New York recently called up top prospect George Lombard Jr., while everything remains mum about Aaron Judge.
