Jazz Chisholm Jr. was removed from Tuesday night’s blowout win in Kansas City in the bottom of the seventh inning.  While there were plenty of changes made during the lopsided game, this raised some eyebrows, considering he just returned from the injured list last week.

The Yankees were cruising to a 10–2 victory when Oswald Peraza came in to replace Chisholm at third base in the bottom of the seventh.

The team later announced that Chisholm was removed with neck tightness. Chisholm told reporters after the game he did not like the tag third baseman Maikel Garcia put on him. He seemed to jam his head against Garcia's leg and glove.

Chisholm appeared shaken up after diving into third base earlier in the night, and though he stayed in the game at the time, the play was enough to leave some lingering concern.

Although the trainers didn’t immediately attend to him, the dive was awkward, and given Chisholm’s injury history, any hint of discomfort tends to carry weight.

Chisholm told reporters after the game he expects to play Wednesday.

It was eerily reminiscent of Chisholm's injury in April, which even he thought was mild and turned into a serious injury list stint.

. He tweaked his side on a swing and then felt it when he slid into third base. He ended up missing 27 games with an oblique injury.

No official update was given by the team when he was removed.

That leaves fans hoping it was just a precautionary move with the game well in hand.

Chisholm has been a spark since joining the Yankees, bringing speed, swagger, and defensive versatility. Through 36 games, Chisholm is hitting .214 with nine home runs, 24 RBIs, and a .770 OPS since his return from injury.
