Yankees Land Long-Term Outfielder In Trade With Giants

The New York Yankees swing big an hour before the 2026 Trade Deadline to acquire their white whale, a right-handed bat.

The Yankees already added depth to their lineup with the addition of first baseman/designated hitter Luis García Jr. from the Nationals on Sunday.

Following a mostly quiet deadline day for the Yankees, they were able to land left fielder Heliot Ramos from the San Francisco Giants.

The 26-year-old has had a solid year for the Giants in 2026, slashing .264/.304/.424, with a .728 OPS, along with nine home runs, 34 RBI and 12 doubles in 74 games.

Despite big swing-and-miss tendencies (82 strikeouts on the season), The former All-Star hits the ball extremely hard, and will likely fair well in the hitter friendly Yankee Stadium.

Ramos is particularly excellent against left-handed pitching. He is posting a .835 OPS against southpaws despite only two of his nine home runs coming against them.

Most notably, Ramos is under contract until the 2030 season, so the Yankees just locked up a big right-handed power bat for the long ride.

According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, the headliner in the return is left-handed pitching prospect Henry LaLane. The Yankees No. 5 overall prospect has posted a 2.77 ERA with 98 strikeouts in High-A this season.
