The parade to the injured list continues for the New York Yankees . On Thursday, the team's Triple-A affiliate placed top reliever Carlos Lagrange on the 7-Day IL with a shoulder injury.

The details of the injury are not yet known, and being placed on the 7-Day IL does not reveal much. Unlike in MLB, Triple-A has only the 7-Day IL and the 60-Day IL, and teams are not required to disclose any details about player injuries. Lagrange last pitched for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on June 28th, when he allowed five earned runs in just two-thirds of an inning.

Lagrange was moved to the bullpen midseason by the Yankees in hopes of joining the big league team in the back half of the season. New York's recent bullpen struggles have been a focus during the team's current seven-game losing streak. In Wednesday's loss to the Detroit Tigers , the two teams were tied entering the top of the 11th inning. Struggling reliever Camilo Doval gave up three walks and a single, allowing four runs to score.

The 23-year-old flamethrower is the fourth-ranked prospect in the Yankees' organization according to MLB.com, and was signed by the team out of the Dominican Republic in 2022. He has a high-90s fastball that has hit as high as 103 mph, along with three secondary off-speed pitches in his arsenal.

With Lagrange now on the shelf, the Yankees will likely need to look at the trade market to bolster their bullpen ahead of MLB's trade deadline next month. Lagrange has a scheduled MRI for his shoulder, which should provide more details about how long he is expected to be out of action.

The prospect joins a full infirmary of Yankees players, headlined by Aaron Judge. Team ace Max Fried remains on the road to recovery from a posterior elbow injury, while Giancarlo Stanton , Ryan McMahon, and Trent Grisham all remain sidelined. Fellow top prospect George Lombard Jr. also hit the IL for the RailRiders on June 18th after he sprained two of his fingers.

This also puts Lagrange's appearance at the MLB All-Star Futures Game in doubt. The MRI could reveal nothing, and Lagrange could be back on the mound in seven days. But with sentiment on the team already at a season-low, the news of Lagrange's injury is the last thing that Yankees Nation needed to hear. At the very least, it will push the team to be a bit more aggressive in seeking out bullpen help over the coming weeks.
