The New York Yankees received some positive injury news on Thursday.

Center fielder Trent Grisham told MLB.com's Bryan Hoch that his imaging revealed no structural damage in his knee. The hope is that he will be available off the bench tonight in an "emergency" situation.

Grisham is of course out of the Yankees' lineup tonight for their series finale with the Toronto Blue Jays.

Grisham felt discomfort in his knee on his secondary lead off second base following a bloop double in the bottom of the second inning on Wednesday night against the Blue Jays. Although he was initially able to remain in the game to play center field for two more innings, Grisham was replaced by Spencer Jones in the top of the fifth.

The Yankees went on to lose the game by a score of 2-1. They will aim for the series victory on Thursday evening.

Grisham told reporters after the game that he was optimistic that his knee issue would not cause him to go on the injured list. For now, it seems like his instincts were correct.

If Grisham is forced to miss time, expect the Yankees to give Jones, their No. 6 ranked prospect, some runway to play everyday in center field.

Grisham is off to a slow start this year, slashing .174/.305/.348 with a .653 OPS, six home runs and 27 RBI in 49 games. The 29-year-old accepted the $22.025 million qualifying offer from the Yankees in the offseason.

The center fielder had a breakout season in 2025, where he slugged 34 homers, drove in 74 RBI and had a .812 OPS in 143 games.

Grisham will be a free agent after the season concludes.

The Yankees enter play today with a 30-20 record and the second-best record in the American League. They're currently four games back of the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL East, who come to Yankee Stadium for a three-game series this weekend.
