Yet another Braves player hits the IL
Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

The injury bug has been a curse the Braves have had to deal with non-stop this season, and the latest member of the team to hit the IL is left-handed pitcher Ray Kerr, who is dealing with a UCL injury.

Ray Kerr is a versatile arm with big stuff that has appeared in 10 games this season, recording a 5.64 ERA over 22.1 innings. The Braves have used him as both a starter and reliever, and while the results have varied, it’s very important to have guys like him in the organization that can be ready in a pinch when called upon.

UCL injuries are never good for pitchers, and oftentimes Tommy John surgery is to follow. I’m sure we’ll know soon if that is the case, and if it is, Ray Kerr will not only be out for the rest of the season, but all of next year as well, which is devastating for a 29-year-old that’s really trying to establish himself as a major-league pitcher.
