The pound-for-pound rankings have undergone a major change following this past Saturday night in Las Vegas.
Alex Pereira’s performance left his former rival stunned after he produced one of his most impressive wins to date.
‘Poatan’ appeared to come into UFC 320 with a vengeance, fired up to prove a point following some comments from his opponent’s team.
It appears that Magomed Ankalaev came into the fight with a significant injury before losing the light heavyweight title in one-sided fashion.
Following a stunning victory and a disappointing title defense, both men’s positions in the pound-for-pound list have been significantly altered.
In the aftermath of UFC 320, the promotion has updated their rankings for multiple divisions and the pound-for-pound list.
Alex Pereira’s devastating win, which has already been replicated by his gym, led to both him and his opponent moving four spots.
‘Poatan’, who came into the weekend at #10, has now overlapped three current champions, and his opponent, to sit at #6.
Moving past Alexander Volkanovski, Jack Della Maddalena, and Tom Aspinall means that he’s now just outside the top five, who have all produced impressive winning streaks.
Ankalaev spoke a lot about faith and support after having his light heavyweight reign ended in his first defense of the title.
As a result of his difficult loss, he’s now fallen out of the top 10, dropping from #7 to #11, with Dricus du Plessis moving up one spot to replace the Russian.
Merab Dvalishvili’s position didn’t change after he secured his third bantamweight title defense of the year on October 4.
