Alex Pereira spoke publicly less than one week on from winning back the light heavyweight title.
Pereira needed just 80 seconds to defeat Magomed Ankalaev in the main event of UFC 320 last Saturday night.
‘Poatan’ came right at the defending champion from the opening bell, immediately pouring the pressure on before putting his opponent away.
It has since been revealed that Ankalaev was dealing with a significant injury before he stepped inside the Octagon on October 4.
His Brazilian foe may have looked to be back to his best in Las Vegas, but that doesn’t mean that the new champion left the cage unscathed.
Alex Pereira has made it clear that his target is fighting Jon Jones at the White House after successfully avenging his loss to Magomed Ankalaev.
‘Poatan’ appeared to be dealing with some kind of foot injury while standing in the Octagon after reclaiming the light heavyweight title.
In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Pereira said that the injury could be a blessing in disguise for him.
He claimed that he thought the foot was broken, and that if this hadn’t happened, he might’ve been motivated to fight again before the UFC’s event at the White House in June.
Pereira, who acknowledged his previous mistakes of not fully dedicating himself to training, acknowledged that this decision could’ve backfired on him and impacted his potential clash with ‘Bones’.
After Pereira returned to his former place of work, he was in attendance for a Q&A session with the fans ahead of UFC Rio on October 11.
MMA Fighting’s Guilherme Cruz reported that at this event, ‘Poatan’ confirmed that he has broken his foot and is therefore planning to remain on the sidelines before returning at the White House.

Several of the UFC roster’s top Brazilian fighters have recently expressed their interest in fighting at the White House next year.
Charles Oliveira has registered his interest in facing Conor McGregor at the landmark event ahead of his return in the main event on October 11.
Another fighter who was present at the Q&A session alongside Alex Pereira was former welterweight title challenger Gilbert Burns.
As was also reported by Guilherme Cruz, ‘Durinho’ named Colby Covington as the fighter he’d like to face at the United States capital next June.
