Anthony Hernandez Extends Win Streak, Demands Title Shot

Anthony “Fluffy” Hernandez may not be in the UFC middleweight title conversation just yet but after his performance at UFC Vegas 109, he’s closing in fast. In the night’s main event at the UFC APEX, Hernandez overwhelmed Roman Dolidze en route to a fourth round submission victory, pushing his win streak to eight fights. The bout was as lopsided as any on the card, with Hernandez relentlessly pressuring Dolidze, chasing him around the cage, and pounding away on the ground without any sign of fatigue.

When it was over, Hernandez had one message for the UFC brass

“I want a title shot. What do I got to f------ do?”

The expletive earned a quick on air reminder from Daniel Cormier that they were live on ESPN, not pay-per-view.

What’s Next for “Fluffy”?

UFC middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis will defend his belt against Khamzat Chimaev next week at UFC 319, and there are several contenders ahead of Hernandez in the rankings he entered the night at No. 10. Still, his dominant showing has likely moved him closer to a top five opponent. Hernandez also expressed interest in fighting for the UFC’s “BMF” title.

During his post fight press conference, Hernandez revealed the UFC is flying him out for the latest middleweight title fight.

“That’s what I’m hearing,” he said when asked about the prospect of attending UFC 319.

“I’m flying to Chicago. So, yeah, I’ll be there. “I was just told that in the back right now, that the UFC are going to fly me out. “So, I’ll be looking forward to that.”
