The NHL and Fanatics released the Hometown Remix uniforms on Monday, after many had already leaked on social media, on the Macy’s website and even by a fan at a game. The rollout was poor, but these jerseys were anything but.
The uniforms, which were announced in August, are the third special league-wide rollout for the NHL, following the Reverse Retro 2.0 set in 2022-23, and were designed to “uniquely and authentically celebrate the fans, city and local culture of each team,” according to the NHL.
Let's conclude the countdown starting with No. 8.

The only cream-colored jersey of the rollout, the Maple Leafs knocked this out of the park and found a way to differentiate it from its big collection of past one-off jerseys. Both the crest logo and the numbers have leaf veins embossed inside. The white stripes on the sleeves have raised some concern, but it’s not distracting enough with other white outlines all over.

The current Capitals uniforms and logo are bad and whenever the team introduces a new set, it almost always trumps their normal threads. This one is no different. Going back to the much superior color scheme and logo from 1995-2007 is an instant hit and if it sells well, the team should finally consider going back to this look.

The Mammoth always faced an uphill battle after rising from the ashes of the Arizona Coyotes and using its second-choice nickname and an uninspired color scheme didn’t help. What did help was the logos and finally the nice “U-tusk” is front and center on a light blue base. The shoulder yoke being formed by tusk-shaped stripes is a nice touch. Some adjustments and this could be added to the rotation.

The Islanders bring back the fisherman logo, but on a white jersey this time — they used the logo for the Reverse Retro 2.0 set — and toned it down from the original 1995-97 set. This is what it should have looked like to begin with, and with its recent resurgence, might have little opposition to seeing this, and a navy version, in full rotation.

The Sharks based this on a real shark’s mouth and knocked it out of the park. While the teal could be a little darker, the teeth pattern on the sleeves rules — along with that thin pink stripe to represent the gums — and that underutilized SJ logo up front make this a winner.

Looking like something you would see in the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI game, the Panthers were not afraid to use pink as the base and model it after a graphic T-shirt, using the palm tree and stick logo from the Reverse Retro 2.0. This proves that pink can work in sports when used correctly, as presented here, and provides the team with a very unique look moving forward.

Paying tribute to Andy Warhol and the pop art movement, the Pens bring back their old double blue colors and mix them perfectly with their current logo. For a team that has plenty of one-off uniforms in its history, it's impressive they found a way to introduce a fantastic and fresh look.

The Ducks take the top spot for modeling their set after the uniforms used in the 1992 movie “The Mighty Ducks,” which had some inspiration with the Ducks’ creation a year later. However, this is the first time the NHL team acknowledged the fictional team. While not a direct copy, there’s a great mix of the current look and the movie look, and it utilizes a color scheme — green, purple, yellow — that isn’t used by any other professional team, but needs to be.
