BKFC president: Conor McGregor will have heavy influence as owner

David Feldman fully intends to take advantage of having one of the UFC’s biggest stars as a new minority owner of his rival Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.

The BKFC president recently stated during an appearance on Sirius XM’s “MMA Today” that given Conor McGregor’s new standing in the company the former two-division UFC champion would have a lot of influence in the company’s day-to-day operations.

“We wouldn’t have gotten Conor McGregor involved to be a silent owner,” Feldman said. “Like, we don’t just want him to be a partner and not say anything and not do anything and not help move the needle. We got him involved to really help move the needle for us, to do different introductions, come up with some good ideas. … He’s a minority owner, but he has a lot of say in this company. He’s going to be part of the board. So we’re going to get a lot of usage out of Conor McGregor.”

Currently valued at $411M, Barek Knuckle FC is likely looking to cash-in on McGregor's star power as the bare-knuckle boxing promotion has grown in popularity as an alternative to the UFC, which is the No. 1 mixed martial arts company in the world, valued at $12.1B.

Though he hasn’t fought in more than two years, McGregor (22-6) is set to make his UFC return over the summer when he fights Michael Chandler in a welterweight bout that will serve as the main event of UFC 303 on June 9.

Because McGregor is under contract with the UFC, he cannot compete in any other combat sports promotions without UFC president Dana White signing off on it like he did when McGregor boxed Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2017.
