After an emotional victory in Rio, Charles Oliveira disclosed his ambition for a BMF title bout against Max Holloway.

Last October, Oliveira made his return to the Octagon in Rio, where he picked up a second-round win over Mateusz Gamrot.

However, his comeback was not without controversy, coming just months after being knocked out by Ilia Topuria in a bout for the vacant lightweight title.

And after such a strong showing, ‘Do Bronx’ set his sights on a BMF title clash with Max Holloway, but that matchup has already seen its share of drama.

UFC president Dana White unveiled the UFC 324 fight card last Thursday. This event will mark the promotion’s debut on the Paramount platform.

The announcement that Paddy Pimblett and Justin Gaethje would headline the interim lightweight title bout split opinions.

Later, a post from UFC Brazil’s social media suggested Oliveira vs. Holloway would also be featured on the card, though it was quickly taken down.

That led to even more confusion among fans, so Oliveira took to Instagram this past Sunday with an update.

“The fight won’t be in January, but the fight will happen. I want it, he wants it, you want it. I believe this fight will happen in March/April,” he revealed.

Their first encounter took place in 2015, ending in a way that left many fans puzzled.

Just over a minute into the opening round, Oliveira signalled an injury, saying he had hurt his neck. The fight was stopped soon after.

Follow-up scans later showed no damage to his neck, and the incident led to fans questioning his toughness for quite some time.
