The MMA world is preparing for the biggest star in the sport’s history to return to action.

Just a few weeks ago, UFC boss Dana White announced that after what has seemed like years of talks, Conor McGregor will be returning to action this coming July.

‘The Notorious’ Irishman will take on former featherweight and BMF champion Max Holloway in a rematch 13 years in the making.

Initially talks took place for McGregor to compete on the UFC White House event, but the promotion opted against it as they wouldn’t be able to make a big gate figure from his return.

UFC 329 pre-sale tickets sell out in minutes

Despite having not competed since 2021, the world has been anticipating the former UFC double champion’s return.

UFC commentator Joe Rogan gave his thoughts on the ‘bananas’ return of the Irishman, making an argument that the fight being at 170lbs could actually benefit Holloway.

And although McGregor is the biggest underdog he has ever been heading into a fight, lightweight champion Ilia Topuria has explained why he thinks McGregor pulls off the upset.

Even though it was already widely accepted that the Irishman is still the biggest star in the promotion, that once again became clear over the past few days.

Ahead of his return on July 11, this past Wednesday and earlier this Thursday pre-sale tickets went live for the event.

UFC Fight Club members and UFC Newsletter sign-ups were granted early ticket access which didn’t last long at all, as within minutes of both pre-sales going live, tickets sold out.

McGregor himself reacted to the news that tickets for his return had already sold out, posting a laughing emoji to his social media.

And with that, tickets on the secondary market are already being sold for as high as $88,000.

There is no denying that the Irishman is an anomaly in the world of sports, and his over a decade of dominance when it comes to star power looks to be continuing.

McGregor’s UFC fights alone have garnered over 17 million PPV buys accumulatively, with six of his events sitting 1-6 in the most UFC PPV buys ever.
