Dana White is so certain Bob Menery will pull out of his fight with Johnny Manziel that he’s willing to bet $25,000 on it.
Menery says the fight is set for May 16 under Adin Ross’ Brand Risk Promotions banner, featuring a boxing undercard. Despite that, White isn’t convinced Menery will go through with it and told Adin Ross he’d bet big money that the fight doesn’t happen.
The UFC president has seen Menery back out of plenty of commitments in the past and doesn’t expect this time to be any different.
In fact, he said if Menery does show up to fight in Miami, he’ll skip his own event in Vegas just to be there.
In a video shared to Instagram tonight, Dana White claimed that he was asked by Bob Menery who he would bet on when he fights Johnny Manziel later this year. The UFC boss laughed off the idea, telling Menery that he would sooner put money on him pulling out than either result.
And a betting company actually gave White odds based on probability, so he has put down a whopping $10,000 on the possibility of Menery refusing to show up at all. “So you guys have seen all the stuff that’s gone on with me and Nelk and Bob Menery over the years,” White told fans.
“Menery is back and he has supposedly signed a deal on Adin Ross’ fight show down in Miami to fight Johnny Manziel, okay? So Menery hits me up and says ‘who are you betting on?’ I said ‘I’m betting on you don’t even show up, that’s my bet’.
“Menery never does anything he says he’s going to do. So Adin Ross’ fight show in Miami, Menery vs Manziel, Polymarket put a bet on it where you can bet whether he shows up or not… There’s no way 49 per cent of people believe in Bob Menery and that he’s going to show up.
“There’s no way in hell, so I’m betting $10,000 Menery does not show up. And Bob, if you do and the night before it looks like you’re going to fight, I’m flying to Miami to watch this one.”
