Dana White confirms UFC White House event lands on America's 250th birthday

The UFC's first-ever event at the White House has received a surreal update, with Dana White confirming the showcase will land on July 4, America's birthday.

The UFC continues to push the boundaries of what's possible for combat sports, as it has done for its 31-year existence. Amid the huge broadcasting deal signed by the company and its promise of venturing into new countries globally, the UFC White House event arguably remains the most anticipated.

As details continue to pour out regarding the one-of-a-kind fight card, Dana White has announced that the UFC will participate in the United States of America's 250th anniversary celebrations of its founding on July 4. 

"It's definitely going to happen," White reiterated. "I talked to him last night, him being the President, and I'm flying out there at the end of this month."

"I'm going to sit down and walk him through, you know, all the plans and the renderings, and we're going to start deciding what he wants and doesn't want."

"But yeah, it's definitely going to happen... July 4th, 250th birthday of the United States of America, live on CBS from the White House."

Details of the event are still being worked out by Dana White, his team, and Donald Trump's daughter, Ivanka.

"When [President Trump] called me and asked me to do it, he said, 'I want Ivanka in the middle of this," White confirmed. "So Ivanka reached out to me, and her and I started talking about the possibilities, where it would be and, you know, I put together all the renderings."

Despite the anticipation surrounding the White House event, Dana White cannot provide any information on fighter participation until closer to fight night.

"No, it's still almost a year away and, you know, the landscape will change over the next several months."
