From the days when the UFC was scraping together cash just to get airtime on Spike TV to now signing a jaw-dropping $7.7 billion TV deal, the fight game has come a long, long way. Over those three decades, plenty has changed venues, fighters, broadcast partners but a few staples have stood the test of time.
One of them? Joe Rogan. And with the ink still fresh on this massive new deal, Dana White has a message for fans worried about any shake-ups: relax, because when it comes to Rogan, it’s still going to be business as usual.
While speaking to the media answering a plethora of questions about the future of the UFC after signing a massive broadcast deal and ditching the PPV model, White addressed the situation with Rogan and what is in store for him.
White said, “Everything's good for Joe Rogan. Joe Rogan has no problems in life whatsoever. Joe Rogan was doing great before the deal. He's gonna do just fine after the deal. Everything stays the same as far as the team goes.”
Joe Rogan’s plate is as full as it gets these days. Between hosting one of the biggest podcasts in the world, “The Joe Rogan Experience,” and touring as a stand-up comedian, it’s a wonder he still finds time to sit cageside for UFC events.
Rogan first joined the UFC way back in 1997 as a backstage interviewer for UFC 12, and fun fact he didn’t even get paid for his first dozen shows. Dana White has made it clear that Rogan isn’t in it for the paycheck; the only thing keeping him from doing even more events is his packed schedule.
White even joked that if Rogan’s calendar wasn’t so crazy, he’d probably still be calling Fight Nights and maybe even jumping in on the Contender Series. Despite all the outside commitments, White’s confident Rogan’s love for MMA hasn’t wavered one bit.
