In Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), few people are as outspoken and confident as UFC President Dana White. He is bitterly known for his strong opinions and staying true to perspectives. He has been hitting most of the headlines recently with his statements, such as the claim that Jon Jones is the greatest fighter of all time or that Joe Rogan is the best commentator in combat sports.

To this end, during a recent interview, Dana White restated his opinions, arguing that there is no doubt that these two icons are successful in their ways. In this regard, as pointed out by White, there is no reason why people should not acknowledge the greatness of both Jones and Rogan due to their classic impacts on UFC and similarly, the rest of the MMA world.

The Rogan Revolution: Dana WHite’s Hiring

A recent talk with FOX’s One Nation with Brian Kilmeade showed that Dana White has no second thoughts about naming Rogan as one of the best and suitable choices he made for the UFC. One could easily understand why Joe Rogan is such a big favorite. This was even as Rogan had featured in multiple UFC events before when Dana White and the Fertitta brothers bought the company in 2001, though he confessed that he wasn’t even aware of this. His first exposure to Rogan came from a VHS tape where Rogan passionately defended MMA on a sports show.

A Match Made in MMA Heaven

Dana White is extremely inspired by the tremendous job Joe Rogan did for the MMA in the past. His first 13 events that he did involved no pay, but they were done just for the love of the event. The rest, as they say, is history. Today, Rogan is not only one of the most recognized voices in MMA. He also hosts the world’s most popular podcast, (The Joe Rogan Experience), he stated that

‘Wait a minute. So you’re telling me I can come to the the sport that I love the most in the world, have the best seat in the house, and talk about it on TV? I’m in!’ He did the first 13 for free, and the rest is history. Now he has the biggest podcast in the world, and he’s the greatest combat sports commentator of all time.

For many years, Rogan worked with Mike Goldberg, the latter being the play-by-play man and Rogan, the color commentator. This dynamic became a part of the UFC broadcasts, where Rogan’s knowledge of fighting helped inform the new fans and, in some cases, supplement what Goldberg forgot. It was a formula that proved quite successful, and few followers had grouses during that period. Rogan enjoyed the sport and could explain specific moves, making him a valuable addition to the UFC.

The Legacy of Joe Rogan in MMA

Dana White’s appreciation and respect for Joe Rogan are apparent and quite understandable. In this regard, Rogan will always be remembered for his commentary and support for the growth of the MMA. We can determine that he was able to describe Rogan as the greatest combat sports commentator of all time, which says a lot about Rogan’s impact and the legacy that he has left behind in the UFC. Whether it is commentary or his touch with fans, Rogan’s place in the MMA is secure, and as said, it is here to stay.
