Former UFC champion Demetrious Johnson believes Dana White's promotion has no excuse not to pay Jon "Bones" Jones what he’s asking for.
With the UFC generating $1.4 billion in revenue in 2024, Johnson questioned why Jones’ reported $30 million demand for a fight against Tom Aspinall is even up for debate.
Johnson made that remark while appearing on the "JAXXON" podcast on March 7, ahead of UFC 313.
“They want Tom Aspinall to fight Jon Jones,” Johnson said. “Jon Jones says, ‘I would like $30 million. Can you guys pay me? Yes or no?’ ‘No, Jon Jones, we can’t pay you.’”

In White's words, Jones is "100 percent guaranteed" to fight interim heavyweight champion Aspinall at some point in 2025, but for now, that bout is still up in the air with no financial agreement between "Bones" and the UFC.
Johnson pointed to the UFC’s massive financial success under TKO Group Holdings, which disclosed a $100 million increase in annual revenue from the previous year.
The former champion believes the UFC’s refusal to meet Jones’s asking price doesn’t add up.
“The UFC made $1.4 billion, and this man is asking for $30 million…" Johnson said. "Pay the man $30 million and call it good."
Despite White's dismissal of a reported $30 million offer, the UFC CEO recently confirmed the promotion is still trying to finalize the Jones-Aspinall fight, confirming Jones "definitely wants the fight."

“Jon, there’s only one thing to do, mate: Sign the contract, and let’s get a date going,” Aspinall said. “Everything is now done on Jon’s side, and the UFC now have to find a date and a venue, a place, location.
”So we’re waiting for that. We’ve got some good news coming soon, hopefully.”
