DWCS 80, also known as week four in season nine of Dana White’s Contender Series,  is upon us. After an MMA-free weekend over the Labor Day holiday period, the world of competitive violence is buzzing once again as the last weeks of the summer schedule play out.

Last week’s show at the UFC Apex brought more excitement to the Tuesday night MMA promotion. Five more prospects received UFC deals from CEO Dana White at the end of the program.

Live coverage of week four is seen inside the United States at 8 pm ET/ 5 pm PT on ESPN+. Internationally, DWCS 80 will be accessible through UFC Fight Pass. As usual, five fights will take place inside the UFC Apex facility in Enterprise, NV.

DWCS 80 Main Event: Jack Congdon vs. Jean-Paul Lesbosnoyani

At the top of the bill on Tuesday night, the welterweights go to the fabled Octagon for a fight matching Jack Congdon (7-1 MMA,) a veteran of Cage Titans, with Jean-Paul Lesbosnoyani (8-2 MMA), an alumnus of the LFA. All fights are a maximum of three rounds at five minutes per round.

Congdon will be making the walk this Tuesday having gone 4-1 in his last five fights. Currently, he’s won three fights in succession dating back to Sept. 14 of last year. This past May, he scored a second-round knockout victory over Zack Davis (9-8 MMA) in Cage Titans 71.

Jack Congdon is on a hot streak heading into DWCS 80 on Tuesday evening. As we’ve mentioned before in these pieces, a fighter on a hot streak is often a fighter who is most dangerous when the cage door shuts on a given evening. Will he win his fourth fight in a row on Tuesday night?

Meanwhile, Jean-Paul Lesbosnoyani will be sporting a 4-1 record himself going into this week’s main event. At the moment, he’s won three straight fights.

On the night of April 11, Lesbosnoyani stopped Kegan Gennrich (9-5 MMA) with a first-round submission by way of a rear-naked choke during LFA 206’s main event in Prior Lake, MN on UFC Fight Pass.

Numerically speaking, both contestants in this main event have combined for 10 wins inside the distance ahead of DWCS 80 on Tuesday night. Who emerges victorious here?

DWCS 80 Co-Main Event: Theo Haig vs. Cezary Oleksiejczuk

Immediately beforehand, middleweights do battle when Theo Haig (6-0 MMA) takes on Cezary Oleksiejczuk (15-3 MMA.) Haig, a veteran of both the late Bellator MMA and the LFA, has yet to lose as a fighter. Back on Jan. 10, he finished Said-Magomed Abdulgaziev (7-10 MMA) with a first-round rear-naked choke in LFA 199.

Abdulgaziev has since lost five fights in a row, including a defeat at the hands of Trent Miller, who competed on DWCS 79 last week. Haig hasn’t fought in close to eight months’ time, so how much ring rust does he have going into DWCS 80?

Across the way, Cezary Oleksiejczuk will be making the walk for the 19th time as a professional competitor with a mark of 4-1 in his past five appearances inside the cage. In February, he bested Tom Breese (20-6 MMA) in just 90 seconds during FNC 21 in Zadar, Croatia.

This is a man who’s a seasoned vet of the sport of MMA with 18 professional fights already completed heading into this midweek tussle. Can he score a UFC deal by night’s end Tuesday?

DWCS 80: Mandel Nallo vs. Samuel Silva

Earlier on the card, you’ll be seeing a lightweight confrontation matching Mandel Nallo (13-3, 1 NC MMA) with Samuel Silva (13-4-1 MMA.) Nallo, a former Samourai MMA Super Lightweight Champion, has posted a record of 4-1 over the past five contests.

He’s on a four-fight winning streak ahead of DWCS 80, but hasn’t fought in a year. Last August, he took the then-vacant super lightweight championship with a first-round submission by way of rear-naked choke against Robert Seres (8-6 MMA) in Samourai MMA Chapter 11’s co-main event of the evening on UFC Fight Pass.

By the time the cage door closes this Tuesday night, 368 days will have elapsed for the Mandel Nallo camp. Can he end his yearlong hiatus with a fifth consecutive victory?

In the other corner, Samuel Silva, a veteran of Cage Warriors, Oktagon MMA, and the LFA, has gone 5-0 in his last five fights going back to July of 2023. On March 21, he unseated George Hardwick (13-3 MMA, 0-1 DWCS) as the Cage Warriors Lightweight Champion by way of unanimous decision after 25 minutes of action in the Cage Warriors 186 featured prelim.

Defeating a tough fighter like George Hardwick looks good on Samuel Silva’s resume, but can he take down another champion in Mandel Nallo? Tune in and find out.

Rest of the Card

Two other fights will take place on DWCS 80 this Tuesday night, a flyweight showcase between An Tuan Ho (6-1 MMA) and Eduardo Chapolin (14-2 MMA) and a featherweight contest pairing Tommy McMillen (8-0 MMA) with David Mgoyan (7-0 MMA.)

Which fight or fights are you looking forward to this coming week?
