Eddie Hall has insisted that he would be willing to make a career-low weight of 300lb in order to fight Dillon Danis but it still might not be enough.
The 2017 World’s Strongest Man made his professional MMA debut earlier this year, tipping the scales at 334lb as he viciously knocked out Mariusz Pudzianowski within a round. It seems that he now wants to fight Danis, making his way into the ring after the BJJ star recorded a quick win over Warren Spencer.
However, Danis has told media including Bloody Elbow that he must lose a further 35lb in order to make the MMA heavyweight limit of 265lb. That would be the lowest Hall has been since likely his teenage years, and perhaps too drastic a cut given he was once well over 430lb.
Former World’s Strongest Man Eddie Hall has been an admitted fan of Dillon Danis’ for a long time, dating back to his original feud with Jake and Logan Paul. But after watching his impressive 15-second win, the Brit wants to test his massive size advantage against his rival’s impressive jiu-jitsu.
“He’s been talking s— for a long time making snide comments on social media so I thought I’d put my money where my mouth is,” Hall told Bloody Elbow in an exclusive chat. “He wanted me to get under 400lb which I am, so I said I’d get under 300 if he shakes my hand there and then which he did.
“So give me 12 weeks to lose 64lb and I will come in and rock his f—ing chin… Honestly I just need one good shot on his face and he’ll regret shaking my hand. I’m not particularly bothered [about the takedown] but I’ll be prepared for the full fight.”
Unfortunately for Hall, it appears that Danis is already not too keen on the idea of the matchup and would rather a more recognisable and serious name in the cage. After six years out of competition, he has been told by the UFC that his dream of a contract in the big leagues will be granted with activity.
“He has to make at least the UFC heavyweight limit,” Danis told media including Bloody Elbow during the post-fight press conference. “He has to at least make that, but if he can do it then hell yeah I’d do it. 425lb is what he wanted to fight at, I’m 170lb. At least make the UFC weight.”
Danis seems to be more interested with a prospective re-booking of his fight with Tony Ferguson, which was due to take place on GFL earlier this year.
