One of the biggest MMA organizations in the world, EFC Worldwide, continues to push out some of the best MMA talent in the world. One of those fighters leading the current charge is heavyweight champion, Elvis Moyo. Set for his first title defense At EFC 127, Elvis Moyo will have the world’s eyes upon him to see if he is a legitimate threat to being the world’s best heavyweight fighter.
Fighters have several different reasons for finding combat sports. For Elvis Moyo, it was a matter of surviving the streets. “I originally come from a suburb where street fighting was a daily thing. After seeing no safety in running away, I figured better to enter a Karate dojo. It was the best decision I ever made. I have never looked back since and never stopped,” Moyo told MMASucka. Moyo comes from the Nkulumane suburb of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.
Once Moyo decided to go all in on combat sports, he needed to surround himself around the right group of people to improve his skills. “Every trainer I’ve trained with has, one way or another, filled my cup with very important lessons. Five years of training with Gert Strydom has helped mold me into this version I am,” said Moyo. “But my biggest transformation, I credit to an 18-month sponsorship with Brunel Laboratories with the Elev8 tablet.”
Making sure all aspects of his game are at their sharpest, Elvis Moyo trains at many of the best gyms in South Africa. He trains with Matias Diaz out of La Maravilla Combat Gym and also spends time with Leo Gloss of Gloss Boxing. Gloss himself is a veteran of EFC Worldwide, with 88% of his career MMA wins coming by knockout. His Judo skills are honed under Themba Khumalo and Vandam at Kazuno Judo Gym in Johannesburg, South Africa.
For over a decade, Moyo has been a product of the EFC Worldwide organization. Not only has Moyo been a dedicated fighter to the organization, but since day one of his professional career, Moyo has fought for EFC Worldwide. His pro career with EFC spans from EFC Africa 28 in March 2014 all the way to capturing the world championship at EFC 122 in April 2025.
After earning a decision victory in his debut, Moyo would run into a few roadblocks, dropping to 1-2 early in his professional career. From August 2014 to February 2015, Moyo would win three-straight bouts with two of those coming by knockout. After a loss at EFC Worldwide 40, Moyo would again string together three more victories, one of those bouts taking place at Ganryujima 4 in July 2016. From October 2016 to September 2018, Moyo would see his career on a bit of a rollercoaster, going 2-3, facing very tough competition.
After not competing in the EFC cage for 2,407 days, Moyo made his long awaited return to EFC 122 in April 2025. Not only was he looking for a victory following a layoff, but Moyo was looking to capture the EFC Worldwide Heavyweight Championship from knockout artist, Anthony Morel. Entering championship rounds, Morel was unable to leave his seat, giving Moyo the championship crown he so rightly deserved.

After defeating the champion, Moyo feels the division is his to conquer for years to come. “After I take out HHH Power [Matunga Djikasa] in spectacular fashion, I don’t really see any good challengers coming up. They didn’t have answers for Morel whom I took out after seven-year layoff. I highly doubt there will be anyone worthy,” stated Moyo.
They settle the score in 2 weeks!

Though the UFC is not on Moyo’s radar at the moment, we may possibly see the “Bomber” on other world stages. “UAE, maybe, maybe Japan again and ONE Championship would be most amazing to compete in!”
