The streaming platform will debut in mixed martial arts this weekend with a card featuring Ronda Rousey, Francis Ngannou and Nate Diaz.
Netflix is officially stepping into the MMA world this Saturday with the launch of MVP MMA 1, a major event promoted by Most Valuable Promotions at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.
The card is built around the long-awaited return of former UFC champion Ronda Rousey, who faces fellow MMA pioneer Gina Carano in the main event. The show will also feature comeback appearances from Francis Ngannou and Nate Diaz, alongside several former UFC names and rising international prospects.
Fans in the United States will get a traditional Saturday night schedule, while viewers in the United Kingdom will once again need to stay up into the early hours for the main card.
The preliminary card is scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM ET, with the main card starting three hours later at 9:00 PM ET. In the UK, that translates to an 11:00 PM BST start for the prelims and 2:00 AM BST for the main card.
Netflix subscribers will be able to stream the full main card exclusively through the platform. The prelims, meanwhile, will be available through Netflix’s Tudum companion site and MVP MMA’s official YouTube channel.
This marks Netflix’s first move into MMA after previously hosting several boxing events, including Jake Paul’s fight with Mike Tyson and Tyson Fury’s recent comeback bout against Arslanbek Makhmudov.
Rousey’s return against Carano headlines a card packed with recognizable names and notable matchups across several divisions.
Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos is set to face Olympic medalist Robelis Despaigne, while Adriano Moraes will compete outside of ONE Championship for the first time in over a decade. French star Salahdine Parnasse will also make his United States debut.
