According to a leading promoter, Conor McGregor is looking in excellent shape ahead of a potential return.
‘The Notorious’ has been out of action for years, but the buzz around his return has not died down at all.
Despite his long layoff, there is still plenty of excitement around the idea of him stepping back into the octagon.
And one of McGregor’s close friends has said that there is growing belief that he could be back in action at the UFC White House in 2026.
David Feldman, president of BKFC, recently spoke to MMA Fighting and shared how impressed he is with how McGregor is looking these days.
“I think he’s very serious about what he’s doing with his comeback fight. He’s going to do that fight unless something crazy off-the-wall happens.
“This is truly the best Conor McGregor I’ve seen. I haven’t known him forever, but I’ve known him for two years, and this is the best I’ve ever seen him. He’s focused and training.”
Feldman added: “We’ve had some conversations. I said, ‘You’re the biggest legend that ever hit the fight game, really, almost. Let’s get back in there’.
“He’s doing everything that I think a fighter should be doing at this point. He’s got a long time to go before that July 4 card next year.
“If he can maintain his focus, which I have no reason to believe he won’t, he’s got a good shot of being the old Conor McGregor.”
Michael Chandler appears to be the favourite for McGregor’s return bout, with most expecting him to feature on the White House card.
But Chael Sonnen suggested that ‘The Notorious’ should fight Tony Ferguson.
The 41-year-old left the UFC earlier this year after eight straight losses. His last win was in June 2019, against Donald Cerrone.
