UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier believes Conor McGregor is a victim of his own success, meaning it is difficult to see him return to the Octagon.

Conor hasn’t fought since his 2021 loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. Conor suffered a broken leg, while his comeback plans for a Michael Chandler fight at UFC 303 fell through after he suffered a broken pinky toe in training. Although Conor is back in training with the aim of fighting on the UFC White House card in June, there are still doubts over whether Conor will feature.

After earning $100 million from the Floyd Mayweather fight, the sale of Proper No. Twelve whiskey and becoming a part-owner of BKFC, Cormier feels Conor is now living an extravagant life like Ric Flair. That comfort makes it more difficult to see Conor returning.

Cormier On McGregor

“Here’s the thing about Conor, though, obviously Conor has started to live the gimmick a little bit, right? He lives like a Ric Flair. Do you all think Conor go fight again? Do you think he can pull himself away from all that lifestyle? I fought in front of millions of people in my underwear. You got some shorts, all glove, so nothing makes me nervous anymore, right? But to do that as a very, very rich man? Yes, and get hit and get knee’d and elbow. But what if you get cut? You start going. God, I don’t really need to do this no more,” Cormier said

While that may be the case, McGregor’s business partner Dave Feldman says Conor looks better than ever. The BKFC President has been working with Conor closely to promote BKFC events, with suggestions Conor could very well end up fighting in the promotion later down the line. McGregor is currently back in training with the aim of fighting at the UFC White House card in June. Dana White has said talks over who will feature are taking place, with the names expected to be finalized by the end of the month. Feldman expects to see the best McGregor.

Feldman Reacts

“Let me tell you something. The best times ten Conor McGregor you’ve ever seen right now. Better than he was when he was in his prime. The most focused, just wants to do everything right. He’s training his ass off each and every day. He’s eating right, he’s going to church, he’s doing everything he’s supposed to do.

“This is not a Conor McGregor that we’ve seen in the past couple of years. This is the best Conor McGregor that I’ve personally ever seen and I’m talking on TV and everywhere. I’ve never seen a Conor McGregor like this, more focused than I ever thought he ever could get, but he is,” Feldman said
