Jon Jones may not be done just yet.
Just as fans were starting to accept Jon Jones’ retirement, the former UFC heavyweight champ seems to be warming to a comeback.
And following Donald Trump’s announcement of a potential UFC event at The White House, excitement around Jones vs. Tom Aspinall has reignited.
Trump made headlines when he suggested that UFC boss Dana White set up an Octagon on the White House lawn to celebrate the 250th anniversary of US independence. While the UFC hasn’t confirmed anything yet, they have promised more details soon.
After Jon Jones’ retirement, Tom Aspinall was promoted to undisputed heavyweight champion, leading many to believe the fight was lost for good. But Trump’s comments have sparked fresh hope that the matchup could happen in 2026.
Digital creator ACGraphixs stoked the fire with an Instagram post showing Jones knocking out Aspinall at The White House, with Trump watching from the Octagon side. Jones noticed the post and commented, “I like this.”
Fans didn’t hold back.
“Make it happen GOAT,” one wrote.
Another added, “Finish the legacy!”
“Kick his – then go out and eat fish and chips to rub it in,” joked a third.
“Don’t tell me we actually end up getting the fight!” said another, capturing the mood of the MMA world.
Not only is Jones open to a comeback, but he’s also taken a key step toward making it happen. The former champ has re-entered the UFC drug testing pool, a move that puts him on track to return to competition as early as January 2026.
Before then, Aspinall is expected to make his first title defence later this year, with Ciryl Gane and Alexander Volkov both in the conversation as possible opponents.
If the UFC’s White House event goes ahead, Jones vs. Aspinall would be a fitting headliner for one of the most impressive cards in promotion history.
