After two rounds, Khalil Rountree looked to be well on his way to victory at UFC 320 until former champion Jiri Prochazka came from behind to score a knockout in the final round.
The two fought on Saturday's pay-per-view main card at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The bout earned 'Fight of the Night' honors. On Monday, Rountree released a statement via social media addressing the loss and was in 'good spirits."
"Close. So Close," he wrote on Instagram. "I’m ok, I’m in good spirits. I’m grateful for every positive message and every comment expressing support for what I give to this sport.
"To say I’ll back is an understatement. Never stop living! Never stop fighting the good fight! For yourself, for your families, for humanity till the end," Rountree said. "Losses hurt, not only me.Coaches, Family, Friends & Supporters you guys are incredible!"
Rountree entered Saturday's bout with Prochazka coming off a decision win over former champion Jamahal Hill in the UFC on ABC 8 main event in June. With the win, he rebounded from a knockout loss to two-time tittle holder Alex Pereira at UFC 307 last October.
Rountree has lost two of his last three fights but banked 'Fight of the Night' bonuses in both losses.
