Netflix has dropped the official trailer for its first MMA event, a Most Valuable Promotions card that brings together some of the sport’s most recognisable names.

Leading the card is a women’s MMA bout that has been years in the making. Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano are the two most formative figures in women’s mixed martial arts history. Rousey last fought in 2016, suffering a TKO loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC 207. Carano’s absence stretches back even further. She last fought in August 2009, stopped by Cris Cyborg at Strikeforce. Between them, that is nearly two decades away from competition. The trailer captures both fighters in training.

Fighter Record Last Fight Result Opponent
Ronda Rousey 12-2 UFC 207, Dec 2016 TKO Loss (R1) Amanda Nunes
Gina Carano 7-1 Strikeforce, Aug 2009 TKO Loss (R1) Cris Cyborg

The second headliner is a five-round welterweight bout between Nate Diaz and Mike “Platinum” Perry (21-7). The two fighters have built their careers on volume, pressure, and durability. Diaz, one of the most popular fighters in the history of the sport, faces Perry — a bare-knuckle standout — in what promises to be a war of attrition at 170 lbs. Completing the main card is a heavyweight contest between Francis Ngannou (18-3) and Philipe Lins (18-5).
