Paddy Pimblett admits there are ‘more deserving’ contenders as he provides Ilia Topuria fight update

Paddy Pimblett understands that on paper, he is not the frontrunner to face Ilia Topuria next.

The lightweight champion is currently weighing up the options for his next fight after knocking out Charles Oliveira at UFC 317 in June.

Paddy Pimblett inserted his name into the conversation by brutalizing Michael Chandler in a third-round TKO victory before storming the cage to confront Ilia Topuria immediately after his 155lb title win.

‘The Baddy’ is ranked #9 at lightweight, but fancies his chance of leapfrogging the likes of Arman Tsarukyan and Justin Gaethje to get a shot at the pound-for-pound best fighter in the UFC.

Paddy Pimblett’s next fight

Pimblett vlogged his recent visit to Las Vegas to watch his teammate compete at UFC Vegas 108.

The 30-year-old capped off his latest YouTube video by providing an update about his next fight.

If all goes according to plan, Pimblett will fight Topuria for the lightweight title later this year.

“I have no idea. Hopefully, it is going to be me vs. ‘The Chorizo’ next,” he said about his UFC return

“And I think that’s what all the Americans want because every American I’ve bumped into keeps saying, ‘When are you going to smash that sausage’s head in?’

“I’m hoping that gets sorted. I understand that I’m ranked nine, so other people probably are more deserving, but ‘Posh boy’ definitely isn’t. Little rich boy, Arman. Showing how desperate he is offering £1 million to fight him.

“Spoiled rich baby trying to pay his way out of things. That’s why he quit when he was making weight in a bath like a little b—-. Arman’s irrelevant. No one cares about him.”

“As I always say, I’ve got nothing but respect for Justin, but I keep seeing in interviews him saying he doesn’t want to fight me.

“I think the only fight to make is me and Ilia.”

Paddy Pimblett blasts Dan Hooker

Pimblett rounded off his comments about the 155lb division by hitting back at Dan Hooker.

The UFC lightweight contender recently slammed the promotion for considering making Topuria vs. Pimblett

Hooker also distanced himself from a fight with Pimblett, whom he called ‘s—‘ in comparison to the other players in the weight class.

“I saw Dan Hooker talking s— the other day, as well,” Pimblett said.

“I used to like Dan Hooker. Now you can eat s—!”
