Raja Jackson, the son of MMA legend Rampage Jackson, was arrested last month over the beating he unleashed on Syko Stu at a wrestling event, and he has now been formally charged.

Jackson was arrested on Sept. 18 and booked on a felony charge of battery with serious bodily injury. According to court records that were obtained by TMZ, that charge and a misdemeanor charge of battery on a person were formally filed against Jackson in Los Angeles County on Tuesday.

The felony charge carries a sentence of up to seven years in prison.

Jackson brutally pummeled Syko Stu, whose real name is Stuart Smith, at an Aug. 23 event for KnokX Pro Wrestling in Sun Valley, Calif. The beating came after what appeared to be a stunt gone wrong.

Smith had first hit Jackson over the side of head with a drink can during a backstage incident that looked staged. Jackson seemed legitimately bothered by the act and later entered the ring during a match involving Syko Stu. He body-slammed Stu and then beat up the wrestler with multiple punches until Stu was bloodied and appeared to be unconscious.

Smith was hospitalized for several days with serious injuries following the attack from Jackson.

Rampage Jackson has said he believes his son took things too far against Smith, though he did make an accusation against the wrestler.
