Rodrigues Calls Out Du Plessis After Hernandez Win

Gregory Rodrigues believes he has found openings to exploit against former UFC middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis.

The Brazilian called out Du Plessis following his recent victory over Anthony Hernandez, which pushed his win streak to four straight. Rodrigues told Sherdog that Du Plessis represents the most logical next opponent, especially with Khamzat Chimaev's status unclear and other top contenders already booked.

Why Rodrigues Wants Du Plessis Next

"That's the fight that makes the most sense," Rodrigues said, per Sherdog. "I don't know what's going on with Chimaev and I think Brendan Allen and Pyfer already have fights booked, so DDP seems like the most logical matchup."

Rodrigues acknowledged Du Plessis's strength and toughness but sees room for exploitation. "Dricus is very strong and tough and he beat the current champion, but he makes a lot of technical mistakes that I can capitalize on," he added.

Du Plessis holds two wins over current champion Sean Strickland but has not secured the next title shot at 185 pounds. His most recent outing saw him defeat former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman by lopsided decision.
