Ronda Rousey has opened up about every part of her comeback fight in a detailed social media post.

Despite losing in just 17 seconds at the Intuit Dome, Gina Carano still found plenty of positives to take away from her return to the cage.

Both fighters came into the bout with different motivations, but it was clear that the main event, which aired live on Netflix for the first time, meant much more to them than just the outcome.

After referring to Carano as her hero in the cage, one of MMA’s biggest names has now shared her full thoughts on how everything unfolded.

Ronda Rousey shared a long post on Instagram, apologising for its length while giving her detailed thoughts on the fight and everything that came with it.

She spoke about how much respect she has for Carano’s journey back to the cage, and added that training again reminded her of just how much she loves the sport.

“I’m better at MMA than I ever was at anything else – and f— who this may offend, but I am the best to have ever done it and nothing can compare to the experience of creating within my craft. I am the one fortunate enough to experience that level of mastery and I’ll never let anyone shame me away from embracing it ever again.”

The former UFC champion also thanked a number of people, including Carano, her family, coaches, and Most Valuable Promotions. She also touched on other standout performances from the event.

She finished by saying that she’s glad this chapter is over for good now.

This was Rousey’s first fight in ten years since suffering two consecutive knockouts in her final appearances in the UFC.

“The fight is over. It’s bittersweet because for the first time, the experience of preparing for the fight eclipsed the joy any victory could have brought. But I’m finally ready to move on, this time with my head held high.”
