Tatsuro Taira will now face Hyun Sung Park at UFC Vegas 108 in the main event, as we preview this upcoming flyweight weekend fight.
Taira was initially on course to fight Amir Albazi; however, the latter withdrew from the fight for undisclosed reasons, meaning that Park got his shot. Taira enters the Octagon for the first time since October 2024. He suffered a loss to Brandon Royval, which put an end to his undefeated UFC record, which was 6-0 at the time. However, prior to that, he had stopped four opponents from his six wins inside the distance, showing he is a danger in the division.
Park, who has an undefeated 10-0 record, is taking the fight on short notice. However, he has every reason to feel confident he can win. Park has won his last three fights via stoppages, beating SeungGuk Choi, Shannon Ross and Carlos Hernandez, respectively. Park was meant to fight Steve Erceg, but he now has the chance to perform on the biggest stage.
“I would say this will be the first time Park will be fighting against a fighter at my level. Likely in the first round, he would understand that what he said was a mistake. “Obviously, the opponent changed on short notice, last-minute, but I’ve been preparing very well together with my team. My team has been very supportive. I’ve been working on my strength to get stronger and get better. I train with a lot of fighters from my team, so I was actually prepared to fight anyone. I’m ready for this fight… I’m fighting Hyun Sung Park, who is a younger opponent. Now it’s my turn to show the experience and what UFC fighters are,” Taira said
“It’s important to show my true abilities as usual. I keep envisioning a winning scenario, and I really believe I can win. I am definitely better at striking. I will overwhelm him with strikes and break him down,” Park stated
