It's the final UFC event of 2023 and also one of the biggest events of the year as the Octagon ends the year inside Las Vegas, Nevada's T-Mobile Arena for UFC 296. A pair of title fights headline the card with UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards defending against Colby Covington in the main event. The rivalry between the two has gotten heated this week following some of Covington's comments. Edwards comes in riding a 12-fight unbeaten streak, and a pair of wins over Kamaru Usman has established him as the best at 170 pounds. Covington will fight for the first time since March 2022 when he scored a win over Jorge Masvidal. In the co-main event, UFC flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja makes his first title defense against Brandon Royval. These two have fought before with Pantoja scoring a submission win in August 2021.
