The UFC is the big leagues, but staying in the mix is a fight in itself. With a stacked roster and new talent constantly knocking on the door, the promotion keeps a close eye on performance, activity, and contract value. Fighters on extended skids or struggling to get their hand raised often find themselves at a crossroads—grind it out on the regional circuit, test the waters in another promotion, or walk away entirely. It’s the harsh reality of the sport. Every fight is an audition, and consistency is the key to survival in the world’s most cutthroat proving ground.
Two veteran fighters recently found themselves on the outside looking in as the UFC made more roster cuts. According to UFC Roster Watch, Julian Marquez and Andrea Lee are no longer with the promotion after their latest losses.

Marquez, who has dropped four straight—all by knockout—most recently fell to Cody Brundage on the undercard of UFC Fight Night: Kape vs. Almabayev. Meanwhile, Lee has suffered six consecutive losses, her latest a unanimous decision defeat to JJ Aldrich on the same card. Once fixtures in their divisions, both now face the tough reality of life after the UFC.

But a release from the UFC isn’t always the end of the road. Both fighters have options ahead. Marquez, known for his brawling style, could find new life in promotions like Bellator or PFL. Lee, with her experience and striking pedigree, could be a strong addition to Invicta FC or ONE Championship, organizations that have showcased top-tier female talent. Whether they choose to rebuild or pivot to a new path, the fight game is unpredictable—just like their next moves.
