According to AthlonSports.com, this Saturday, the UFC will host Sandhagen vs. Figueiredo in Des Moines.
Veteran MMA trailblazer Miesha Tate will battle against Yana Santos. This gives Tate the chance to re-enter the bantamweight top 10 rankings with a win.
Tate is coming off of a five-year retirement, she has gone 2-2, including a submission win over Julia Avila in her last outing, but also a flyweight loss to Lauren Murphy.
At nearly 40, Tate is looking for one last title run. She’s currently eyeing a possible bout against the winner of Peña vs. Harrison.
In a recent interview with Aaron Bronsteter for Sportsnet, that while she is focusing on her match against Santos, she is not opposed to setting a trilogy against Ronda Rousey.
Tate reiterated her interest in the possibility of a trilogy. Tate said, “I just have way more skills now than I ever had before. I understand the game a lot better. I didn’t know how to beat a judoka back then. I really didn’t.”
Realistically, Tate does not think that Rousey would make a return to the octagon, but she is willing to welcome her back.
“The only way I think Ronda comes back is if she really wants to,” Tate told Bronsteter. “I think she should have to go through me first if she does decide to come back.”
