
After an action-packed preliminary card, fans got plenty of action in the main card at UFC Winnipeg as well. In the main event, Mike Malott defeated Gilbert Burns by TKO (strikes) at 2:08 of Round 3. Malott especially stood out, controlling the fight from start to finish against Gilbert Burns.
The Canadian fighter landed the cleaner shots throughout the fight, but in the third round he hurt Burns badly. This was Burns’ fifth consecutive loss, and the Brazilian star took off his gloves and announced his retirement after more than a decade in the UFC.
Charles Jourdain stayed unbeaten at bantamweight with a hard-fought decision win over Kyler Phillips. Jourdain defeated Phillips by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28). Jourdain had now won three straight since moving to bantamweight and was getting closer to breaking into the top 15.
Jai Herbert survived an early scare before stopping Mandel Nallo. Herbert defeated Nallo by TKO (strikes) at 2:05 of Round 1. Nallo came out aggressive early, but Herbert stayed calm, which resulted in a TKO win. Additionally, Jasmine Jasudavicius defeated Karine Silva by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).
Gauge Young started the main card where he won a close battle against Thiago Moises. Young won the fight by split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28). Young struggled during the first round but found his rhythm in the second round and took over in the third to win the fight.
The prelim card saw more exciting finishes, but the main event was emotional as Gilbert Burns announced his retirement. After this, fans would be seeing UFC Fight Night at the UFC Apex, where Aljamain Sterling aimed to get his title shot at featherweight, but he has to defeat Youssef Zala first.
