What’s Next For Henry Cejudo?

Henry Cejudo wants one more fight before he retires as we examine his next steps.

Cejudo is not in the best form, as his last victory came in 2020 when he beat Dominick Cruz. Since then, he has lost three in a row, coming out second best to Song Yadong at UFC Seattle in his last fight. Cejudo suffered a technical decision loss, as the fight was stopped after the third round following an accidental poke in the eye. Yadong avoided any point deduction, as he took a win on the cards.

The two-weight UFC champion could now take the rematch. Prior to the incident, Cejudo was fairly competitive. Yadong has also not ruled out the rematch, as both men do not currently have a fight lined up. If that fails, there is the chance to secure the Sean O’Malley fight.

Cejudo called out Suga following the latter’s second consecutive loss to Merab Dvalishvili. O’Malley was seeking to avenge his first loss, which cost him his UFC Bantamweight Title. O’Malley admitted that he had an injury in the first fight, as he underwent surgery on his hip. However, he could not reverse the result when he was healthy. Sean has been linked with a move up from bantemweight after suggestions that he struggles to make weight. Cejudo called him out following the Merab loss, as a fight could happen.

“Hey Sean – you should’ve stroked the cord before the fight and let your wife’s bf record it. Anyways, I’m still looking for a tune up. Siblings fight all the time – let’s give Merab a Father’s Day present he will never forget. What do you say precious? @SugaSeanMMA,” Cejudo stated

Equally, Cejudo also has his eyes on a fight with Petr Yan. The latter in on an impressive run of form. Yan has won his last two fights, beating Song Yadong and Deiveson Figueiredo, respectively. That was the perfect response following three losses on the spin, as Cejudo has plenty of options to consider.

“I would love to get Petr Yan if we don’t run it back with Song. I would love to get Yan, but I don’t know where the UFC (stands). They’re probably pissed at me. Like, Dana probably thinks I b****ed out, and so does Hunter (Campbell). Like, they probably all think I b****ed out. I mean, I’ll be happy to have one eye and raise (my kids) but s**t, it’s better to have two than one, you know?,” Cejudo  said
