Brad Keselowski Throws NASCAR Under the Bus for the Wrong Penalty Call at Michigan

Rules are a part of racing. Drivers must abide by the rulebook of NASCAR to compete with no margin for error. Brad Keselowski learnt this the hard way at Michigan International Speedway on Sunday when he was penalized for speeding on pit road. The RFK Racing star has now hit out at this decision.

On X, Keselowski replied to a post from a fan regarding the incident. The fan claimed that the RFK Racing star was right alongside Spire Motorsports’ Carson Hocevar at the time of the incident. Thus, according to the X user, if Keselowski was speeding, then Hocevar would have also been violating the rules.

The 2012 Cup Series champion did not directly address this claim in his reply. Though, Brad Keselowski made it clear that he did not agree with NASCAR’s decision. The 41-year-old revealed that his car telemetry showed that he was within the 60mph limit, while NASCAR’s data was different.

Still not sure how we got speeding penalty from Sunday. Our incar telemetry shows 59.4mph where NASCAR’s system showed 60.9mph.

Unfortunately, rules are rules, even the slightest of violations lead to penalties. While Keselowski can disagree with this claim, NASCAR’s data is the final criteria in such cases. Ultimately, the 41-year-old finished the Michigan race in tenth place.

Brad Keselowski outlines dream plan for RFK Racing

The 2012 Cup Series champion joined RFK Racing as a driver and co-owner in 2022 after spending a long and successful stint at Team Penske. The shift to an additional role as team co-owner was a big one for Brad Keselowski.

He was no longer just required to focus on-track, but also had to give his time in running the team. While so far Keselowski has not had the best of stints with his own team, with a lack of decent results, he continues to have high ambitions for RFK.

The 41-year-old’s appetite was not fulfilled by RFK Racing just competing in the Cup Series. Brad Keselowski made it clear that eventually he wants his team to be fighting for champions not only in the Truck and Xfinity Series, but even IMSA. However, Keselowski admitted that it won’t be easy to accomplish all this at once. Rather, his team will take everything one step at a time.

We have to eat the elephant one bite at a time. But yes, certainly aspirations to be a part of the organization running IMSA trucks in Cup Series at a very high level and competing for wins in championships,

Brad Keselowski said, as quoted by slicksandsticks.com

Certainly, Brad Keselowski wants RFK Racing to become a motorsport powerhouse. The 41-year-old is investing his own time and energy into making this possible. Though, entering another series is not that uphill of a task if a team has its logistics right, becoming a championship contender is an entirely different thing.

Keselowski and his squad must make sure that they are fully prepared to take up such a challenge before deciding to make any move to expand their racing operations.
