Next season, Chase Elliott is going to have someone else in his ear telling him “door, bumper, clear,” as Eddie D’Hondt exits Hendrick Motorsports. D’Hondt has worked for several years with HMS in NASCAR. He worked alongside Jeff Gordon in his final years and has been with Elliott for numerous wins, too.

On Saturday night, D’Hondt posted a message thanking Rick Hendrick, Jeff Gordon, and Chase Elliott. Of course, Alan Gustafson as well.

“468 races together, 26 wins, [and] a [championship].”

For his work as a spotter, Eddie D’Hondt made himself quite a career. However, this doesn’t seem to be the end for him in the Cup Series. Expect to see D’Hondt pop up after this with another organization.

Chase Elliott did not have a great season this year. While a lot of that had nothing to do with more than his injury and inconsistencies, maybe there was something else going on. I do not think it is a bad idea for this team to get someone new in the spotter’s stand.

Gustafson is a great crew chief, Elliott is a great driver – D’Hondt has proven himself to be a great spotter. There is no reason to think this was due to a bad feeling or finger-pointing, but I do think it is good for this team to have a little bit of change.

First, the No. 9 driver needs to heal up from his shoulder surgery.

Chase Elliott should be good to go in 2024

For those Chase Elliott fans worried about his shoulder, it’s going to be just fine. Elliott is going to be healed up just in time for the 2024 season and he says that he shouldn’t miss any time.

That means we will get to see Elliott in the Busch Light Clash, Daytona 500, and so on. Elliott wanted to make sure he was 100% good to go so he could perform for the fans and of course, his team.

“Thus far everything has gone really well,” Elliott revealed, via FOX’s Bob Pockrass. “The way I see things today, I don’t think there is anything that would make me think that next year would be compromised at the beginning of the season, including the Clash.”

Next season is going to be good. It is also going to mark the end of the current media deal. Get ready for the next few years, it’s going to be big for NASCAR and important to the growth of the sport in the modern era.

Chase Elliott will be ready to go next year, and he will be looking for redemption after his lackluster season in 2023.
