This race wasn’t originally on Chase Elliott’s schedule, but he’s won the NASCAR Xfinity Series pole award at Pocono. Elliott is back in the Hendrick No. 17 Chevy and is ready to bring a win back to the shop.

Brandon Jones will join Chase Elliott on the front row. Nick Sanchez and William Sawalich, a pair of rookies, will start behind those two.

Pulling off double duty this weekend, Elliott has started off right so far. One pole down, one more to go. Then it will be time to go racing in the Xfinity Series later today. Can Elliott get the job done at the Tricky Triangle against these Xfinity regulars?

The Hendrick No. 17 car is always going to be quick. With Chase Elliott behind the wheel, the chances of seeing it in Victory Lane are pretty high. But we saw in the Truck Series race last night that anything can happen.

Today’s race will be hot. The sun will be beating down on these drivers all around the Tricky Triangle. We know that the Hendrick team can get wins. Kyle Larson and William Byron have gotten it done for the 17 team this season. Now, it’s Elliott’s turn to step up and get a win.

I think we are going to see the JR Motorsports cars get comfortable during the race and move up. Justin Allgaier and Connor Zilisch qualified P8 and P9. Meanwhile, their teammates, Sammy Smith and Carson Kvapil, will start P13 and P22, respectively.

Looking at the starting lineup, I think Sam Mayer might be the driver to watch today. He’s starting P6 and has been relatively quiet this season. A win would turn his season around for the better.

Chase Elliott building towards Cup Series win?

This season in the Cup Series has been good for Chase Elliott. He has to make it great. With what we’ve seen from the No. 9 team and Elliott lately, are we going to see the first Cup win of the year for them at Pocono?

It’s hard to read too much into how a Cup driver does in the Xfinity car. These are two completely different racecars, and there isn’t much that translates from one to the other. But momentum is momentum sometimes in racing. When a driver just can’t do any wrong no matter what race or car they are in.

Chase Elliott had a lot of speed in Mexico City last weekend. He just won his first Xfinity Series pole in years. The speed is just oozing from him right now. Sweeping the weekend in Xfinity and Cup would be major for Elliott’s season and how he is viewed going into the playoffs.
