Corey Heim Wants To Outshine Greg Biffle Following Record New Hampshire Victory

In 1999, Greg Biffle thundered through the NASCAR Truck Series and earned nine victories. It was the most wins any driver had secured in a single season. 26 years later, 23-year-old Corey Heim has astonishingly matched that feat with a win at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

The young Tricon Garage superstar completely swept the Magic Mile on Saturday by starting from the pole, leading 124 of 175 laps, and setting the fastest lap of the day. Biffle, a true legend of the sport, was only too glad to welcome young Heim into the nine-win club in light of this.

He wrote on X, Welcome to the 9-win club @CoreyHeim_  cheers !” It’s pretty hard not to notice the can of beer, the lobster, and the tropical setting in the picture, but what mattered more was the message of congratulations. It must have been pretty lonely at the top all these years for him.

Heim is, without question, grateful to have the opportunity to be spoken of on the same lines as such legends. He also shared his thanks to his team for keeping him at the top regardless of which track they went to. However, he was also clear that they had to keep the ball rolling.

He clearly stated his intent to the media, “Still have four more races left [this year] and want to break that [single-season wins] record. Shout out to Greg Biffle. He’s a great dude. Dream year for me personally, and I just have to keep it going. It’s awesome.”

Heim Has More Work To Do Before the Season Ends

Four more races are left in the Truck Series season. Meaning, Heim is likely going to break Biffle’s record soon. When such a young driver shatters records set by the best in history, he is bound to draw eyeballs towards him. Heim most certainly has and could be looking at a promotion to the Cup Series soon.

He continues to stand seventh on the all-time wins list in the Truck Series after securing what was his 20th career win. He still needs to visit Victory Lane a couple of more times to reach Todd Bodine, who sits sixth on the list.

There is some interesting food for thought in all this. When Biffle won nine races in the 1999 Truck Series season, he was 30 years old and still awaiting a full-time ride in the Cup Series. Heim is just 23 years old and will likely end up at the premier tier within the next couple of seasons. The youngster is bound for a heroic journey.
