To make NASCAR racing more exciting, each event is not merely only the competition for position, but for the competitors’ lives. On Monday at Michigan International Speedway, Corey LaJoie was involved in one such battle with Noah Gragson. The students, who initially wanted to struggle for the ranking of the TOP 20, literally plunged into a terrible show. Gragson collided with his car which overturned in an aerial blow-over stage crash that became a major talking point among fans and officials.

Such a dramatic event in the middle of the race establishes why NASCAR can be so unpredictable as well as the fact that the drivers and their cars go through a lot to get through a season. As he relates another scary moment this year, it has been a year of ups and downs for him and the team.

The Unexpected Blowover Crash

Not unexpectedly, what happened next was contrary to what one might anticipate: As Corey LaJoie’s car spun to the inside apron, The car was thrown in the air in what seemed like a most frightening blowover accident. It overturned and collided with the inner wall of the tube and then rolled along the rest of the station’s track. From there, the momentum of the car did not stop rolling; when the car reached the infield grass, it flipped several times more, both stunned spectators and officials.

After the crash, Corey LaJoie was released from the infield care center and shared his thoughts on the incident, he stated that,

That’s just about the way the year’s gone, said LaJoie after being released from the infield care center. We have a good car and I find a way to flip it upside down. Twice this year we’ve been upside down and I’ve never been upside down in my whole career. That’s just how the year for our No. 7 team has been.

A Season of Ups and Downs

This was not the first time that Corey LaJoie would end up upside down this year alone. Earlier this year his No. 7 car flipped on its side and rolled across the finish line at the Talladega Superspeedway. Of course, such incidents are comparatively rare in tracks smaller than a superspeedway however Michigan is one of the fastest circuits on the calendar making high-speed shunts such as this one more probable.

Consequences of the performance of Corey LaJoie’s year

The accident that befell the Michigan International Speedway is sufficient evidence of the fact that NASCAR racing is not without its fair share of risks. He has had his share of ups and downs in the current year, and this is another event in what has been a roller coaster of a year for the racer. However, he refuses to give up the season and is committed to getting back in the race and fighting to the end of the season.

In its usual standard, NASCAR tends to frown at incidents such as the LaJoie wreck. Based on the above analysis, it can be inferred that the organization will probe into the causes of Corey LaJoie’s and Sieg’s crashes to know how such conditions give rise to airborne circumstances. There is no doubt that NASCAR will see to it that driver safety would propel any modifications that might be required to avoid future ‘Kasey Kahne’ incidences.
