Dale Earnhardt Jr. has unveiled the title and cover art for the Amazon Prime Video documentary on his father, Dale Earnhardt Sr., set to be released in 2025.

“Earnhardt,” a four-part documentary, promises to be “a profound, revealing, and definitive account of a historic American family.”

“The history of the Earnhardt family is the history of NASCAR—you can’t tell the story of one without the other—and at the center of the Earnhardt family was Dale Earnhardt Sr., the most influential figure the sport has ever known,” Prime Video said in a press release. “A charismatic, working-class hero to millions of fans, Dale Sr. spent the better part of two decades as the most visible figure in stock car racing, breaking through the confines of the sport’s regional fan base to mainstream notoriety, racking up millions in endorsement deals from Coca-Cola to Wheaties, and appearing on daytime TV and late-night talk shows.

“From one generation to the next, racing would bring the Earnhardt family together, but it wasn’t always an easy road. Now, with unparalleled access and never before seen archival material, the Untitled Earnhardt Documentary promises a profound, revealing, and definitive account of a historic American family.”

Dale Earnhardt Sr. remembered as one of NASCAR’s best

Earnhardt Sr., who passed away after a last-lap crash in the 2001 Daytona 500, remains one of NASCAR’s most popular and decorated drivers to this day. A member of NASCAR’s inaugural Hall of Fame class in 2010, Earnhardt Sr. tallied 76 wins. He claimed seven Cup Series championships, tied for the most all-time with Richard Petty and Jimmie Johnson.

Known to fans as “The Intimidator,” Earnhardt Sr.’s legacy lived on with his son, who spent nearly two decades holding the title as NASCAR’s Most Popular Driver. Earnhardt Jr. won 26 races in NASCAR’s premier series and earned a Hall of Fame induction in 2021. He has since joined the media space, hosting “The Dale Jr. Download” and broadcasting races for NBC Sports.

Earnhardt Jr. will be on the call for Cup Series races on Prime Video and TNT Sports starting in the 2025 season as part of NASCAR’s new broadcasting rights deal. The press release lists his media company, Dirty Mo Media, as a producer for the Prime Video documentary.
